Ready position

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Many sports have a standard “ready position” – volleyball, baseball, tennis are a few examples; it’s how a player stands before the ball is served or the pitch is thrown.

During the Playoffs, Chesapeake Energy Arena has a ready position, too – and it looks about like this.

Boom.

Stormy weather moves in to OKC shortly after the Thunder takes Game 4 against the Lakers – and, without fail, happy Thunder fans bring out the 1 a.m. basketball/weather puns on social media.

House Divided

Scanning the crowd at STAPLES Center, you see lots of Laker yellow and some Thunder Blue. And then there was this father/son….one of each.

On the Job

Friday, May 18th, 2012

The Thunder Web and Broadcast crews are working hard in Los Angeles. Our website (thunder.nba.com) is loaded with video and web reports as the Thunder prepares for tonight’s Game 3 vs the Lakers. Since the game is only televised by ESPN (TNT on Saturday), Grant Long and Brian Davis join Matt Pinto on the radio (WWLS 98.1 FM). On the web, Kelly Crull is providing strong video updates and Thunder Basketball writer Nick Gallo is doing a great job following the team.

They are all joined by a hard-working, talented group of Thunder production, video and web staff both in LA and OKC. It’s our pleasure to bring the excitement of the Thunder’s journey to you across all platforms (Radio, web, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc etc) And don’t forget the Thunder Live Online postgame show immediately following the game. Stay with our website for full coverage plus TV Companion and Live Chat during the game.

Enjoy!

Goin’ Old School

Friday, May 18th, 2012

Usually when the Thunder is on the road, the team has its game day shootaround at the arena. When they are in Los Angeles, Coach Brooks likes to take them to the gym at Santa Monica High School. It’s your basic old-school gym that takes the players back to their roots.

No fancy bells or whistles, just a floor and hoops and lots of history. It reminds the guys of their years and years of hard work, dedication and focus to get to the level they are at today.

Game 3 tips off just after 9:30 p.m. CDT on ESPN and Thunder Radio (with Pinto/Davis/Long)

Immediately following the game, stay with thunder.nba.com for a full ThunderLive online postgame show .
