Grant Long and his college coach.

Monday, April 29th, 2013

You watch Grant Long offer his analysis on Thunder game broadcasts on FOX Sports Oklahoma, and you probably know that he played 15 seasons in the NBA. While in Houston, we ran into Grant’s college coach at Eastern Michigan University, Ben Bauer.  We talked to Coach Bauer and learned more about Grant’s playing days at EMU.

Bauer is now head coach at Rice University.

On the Job

Friday, May 18th, 2012

The Thunder Web and Broadcast crews are working hard in Los Angeles. Our website (thunder.nba.com) is loaded with video and web reports as the Thunder prepares for tonight’s Game 3 vs the Lakers. Since the game is only televised by ESPN (TNT on Saturday), Grant Long and Brian Davis join Matt Pinto on the radio (WWLS 98.1 FM). On the web, Kelly Crull is providing strong video updates and Thunder Basketball writer Nick Gallo is doing a great job following the team.

They are all joined by a hard-working, talented group of Thunder production, video and web staff both in LA and OKC. It’s our pleasure to bring the excitement of the Thunder’s journey to you across all platforms (Radio, web, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc etc) And don’t forget the Thunder Live Online postgame show immediately following the game. Stay with our website for full coverage plus TV Companion and Live Chat during the game.

Enjoy!

Draft night

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Tonight is the 2011 NBA Draft, and for anyone reading this looking for behind-the-scenes insight on what will happen tonight – frankly, I’ve got nothing.

Anything can happen on draft night, and we’ll be watching like the rest of you.

If you’re looking for a place to watch tonight’s draft with other NBA fans, Budweiser will be having a watch party at Toby Keith’s “I Love This Bar & Grill” in Bricktown.

In the meantime, you can take a look at two great pieces on past drafts. On the our website, Thunder broadcaster Grant Long talks about his experience being drafted by the Miami Heat in 1988. And the Oklahoman yesterday went down the list of Thunder players, discussing how each one came to the team and what picks the Thunder has made in previous years.

The draft will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 6 p.m. (channel 29/HD 720 on Cox in OKC). Our web team will be posting news and updates at THUNDER.NBA.COM as the draft unfolds, so keep an eye on our site throughout the night, as well.
