All in the family

It could be the beginning of a joke, but it’s not. What do you get when you combine some serious Thunder fandom, a family’s second child and a case of one-upsmanship?

You get the story of the Click family and how Deziray told Jeff she was having a baby.

Jeff sent in the whole story after a Father’s Day tweet piqued our curiosity.

When Deziray found out she was pregnant with the family’s first child, Alessondra, she didn’t want to just tell Jeff in an everyday way – she wanted to make it an event. Deziray planned an afternoon cookout with friends and family to make the announcement, but then she went one step further – she hired a pilot to fly over the house, trailing a banner that said, “Jeff Click, you’re going to be a Daddy!” As the plane approached, she urged Jeff to go outside and start the grill, following him to the patio with their cheering friends and family.

Jeff commented, “It was so creative and a unique way to tell me … how was she going to match that for our second child?”

Deziray found a way. In late 2009, five years after finding out they were going to have Alessondra, Deziray became pregnant again. The couple, who are Thunder Season Ticket Members, were scheduled to watch the Thunder take on the Boston Celtics on December 4.

Deziray set everything up through their Account Manager, and Jeff found out just how well she could one-up her first surprise.

“We were at our usual seats with our friends and the video screen ran all of the Happy Birthday messages, which I like to pay attention to,” Jeff wrote. “Suddenly, I see, ‘Jeff Click, you’re going to be a Daddy again!’ on the screen.”

As the crowd (and the couple) reacted, the Clicks’ Thunder Account Rep came forward with a Thunder onesie. Last month, when Jeff celebrated his first Father’s Day with the Clicks’ second child, Giavauna, he posted a picture on his Twitter account from that night of Deziray holding up the onesie and said, ”My 1st Father’s Day as Giavauna’s Daddy. I was 1st ‘introduced’ to her by @dezirayclick @ an @okcthunder game!”

He sent some pictures of Giavauna, now 11 months old, wearing the onesie they got that night. We can only speculate that, when this picture was taken, she was sad the season was over …

Thanks to Jeff for sharing the great story and for truly being a part of the Thunder Family!
