Our bison has had a big week.
In addition to his acclaimed appearance on “The Ellen Show,” Rumble has made a big change: he’s given up his old drumsticks and replaced them with a new pair.
Rumble’s old drumsticks – which, might I say, matched his fur quite nicely – were traded in to be auctioned off after the first game of the Playoffs. He had been using those drumsticks since the first game of the 2009-10 season.
We had the old pair framed by Case of Champions for our in-game auction on Wednesday; our proceeds from the drumsticks and all other items go to the Thunder Community Foundation, which funds most of our community-outreach programs.
A faithful Rumble fan snatched up the old pair for $2,000. Meanwhile, Rumble played on, hyping up the Game 5 crowd with his new set of drumsticks.
We’ll have more goodies for auction during each playoff home game – mostly from our players, but since Rumble kind of hit the big time this week, we’ll be sure to let you know if we have any more mascot collectibles available.
UPDATE: Speaking of Rumble, Ellen Degeneres is auctioning off the pair of courtside playoff tickets he delivered to her this week. With about 20 hours left in the auction, bids have flown above $4,100 for the seats. Click here if you want to follow along (or put in your own bid).
